Anyone would like to have something like that in his garden? ^^
Ngee Khiong have hot news about 3 projects that are related with 30th Anniversary of Gundam. Below is what we know about those projects:
At a press conference yesterday (March 12th), Bandai Namco Group has announced a life size Gundam RX-78-2 to be built at Shiokaze Park (潮風公園) in Tokyo. Scheduled to be completed by early July. The statue will be opened for public viewing with no admission charge. Yup, it’s going to be a non-movable statue. So sorry folks, it’s Gundam but no ikimas ^^;18 meter in height, this statue will have iron frame with FRP (Fibre Reinforced Polymer) composites as the exterior. It’s reported that the head can move up and down, and to the left and right, but the public will not be allowed to operate the movement. In addition, there will be about 50 light-up components built into the eyes, shoulders, knees and other parts. Also, there will be 14 parts with “mist jet gimmick” (? – ミスト噴射ギミック) installed. Spot lights will be added to the surrounding of the statue to light it up during the night.
The construction cost is undisclosed.A 1/30 scale replica and other design sketches of this statue were shown at the press conference.
The statue will not stay at Shiokaze Park forever though. It’ll be transferred to another location two months after its “birth” at the park ^^
The life size Gundam RX-78-2 statue is just one of the three major projects planned for Gundam 30th Anniversary it seems.
“Real G”, “Feel G”, and “Soul G” are the titles for the three projects mentioned. “Real G refers to the statue mentioned.
“Feel G” refers to Gundam Big Expo to be held in Tokyo Big Sight from August 21st till 23rd. On top of the display of various merchandises, video games, and stage events, an original short movie will be shown as well. However, at the same time, it is revealed that “there are no plans to broadcast [another Gundam] television series in 2009.” — from Anime News Network.
“Soul G” refers to “Gundam 30th Anniversary Commemoration Music Live”, a music festival dedicated to the warriors from the anime.
Also, Bandai Namco Group announced that part of the sales from Gundam goods will be contributed to “Green Tokyo Gundam Project” (GREEN TOKYOガンダムプロジェクト).
So there is probably no chance that in this year we will see a new Gundam series but still a lot of interesting things will held in Japan this year because of this Gundam Anniversary .
This music festival sounds great since many Gundam series have very good music, for example Gundam Seed/Seed Destiny, Zeta Gundam, Gundam 00 and it would be nice to hear them on such a festival . To bad that I will not be there in this year…
The only thing that is left is to wish good luck Namco Bandai in finishing those projects.
